28/02/2021 (ISL : MATCH 109)</b> : FC GOA - <b><font color=red> 0-0 </b></font> - HYDERABAD FC

All FC Goa needed to progress to the playoffs was a draw. That they achieved with an efficient performance as they held Hyderabad FC to a goalless draw at the Fatorda Stadium here on Sunday, setting a new Hero Indian Super League record for the longest unbeaten run in the process.

A brilliant defensive performance from Ivan Gonzalez and some crucial saves from Dheeraj Singh was enough for the Gaurs to get the point they needed. They were lucky not to concede late in the game and a good show from Hyderabad was not enough to stop Juan Ferrando’s men from qualifying for their fourth consecutive semifinals and extending their unbeaten run to 13 games. Hyderabad are still unbeaten in 2021 and extended their unbeaten run to 12 games, but they had to settle for fifth on the table.

Both sides have scored more goals in the second session and Goa rang in an early warning when Alberto Noguera set Redeem Tlang free on the left. The winger covered some distance and crossed to Alexander Jesuraj, who was late to react. With HFC trying to get the required goal to progress, tempers flared along with the pressure as Edu Bedia, Tlang and Joao Victor went into the referee’s books within a span of nine minutes.

Hyderabad had their best opportunity in the 84th minute. Victor chipped in a delightful ball into the box from outside the box. Joel Chianese and Liston Colaco, both of whom made runs in behind, failed to head in from close range. After being withdrawn, Lluis Sastre was shown a red for throwing a bottle at the Goa bench. Noguera also received a yellow and will miss the first leg of the playoffs.

Hyderabad nearly took the lead in the injury time but Gonzalez came with a crucial interception to deny Liston Colaco from scoring a simple tap-in. Later, Adil Khan almost scored an own goal but an alert Dheeraj pulled off a stunning save to send his team into the playoffs.

It was the final nail in the coffin for Bengaluru’s hopes of reaching the Hero Indian Super League playoffs as they slumped to a 1-2 defeat against FC Goa at the Fatorda Stadium on Sunday. Goa took a quickfire lead through Igor Angulo (20’) and Redeem Tlang (23’) before Suresh Wangjam (33’) cut short Bengaluru’s deficit.

21/02/2021 (ISL: MATCH-101) : BENGALURU FC <b><font color=red> 1-2 </b></font> FC GOA

With the result, Goa not only consolidated their spot in the top four but are also now unbeaten in 12 games - matching their own record between 2014 and 2015 and Mumbai City’s 12-game run this season. BFC started the game brightly but a lapse in concentration from them saw Goa break the deadlock.

Glan Martins dispossessed Erik Paartalu just outside the box before finding Angulo. The striker made his way into the box before burying his shot at the far post, leaving BFC keeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu with no chance. Just minutes later, Tlang doubled Goa’s tally. After Rahul Bheke failed to clear a cross, Alexander Jesuraj got to the ball and flicked it towards the path of Tlang, who scored his first goal in Goa colours with a well-taken strike.

Just when it looked like Goa were in the driving seat, BFC pulled one back soon after the water break. Prancing into the box after beating Seriton with a clever first touch, Wangjam curled his shot at the far corner with a delightful finish to notch up his first goal for BFC.

The Blues had another great chance to draw level right at the end of the first half but were denied by the woodwork. Xisco Hernandez whipped in a delicious cross for Cleiton Silva whose header rattled the crossbar. Just after the change of ends, Angulo missed a fine opportunity to get his brace. He got past the BFC back line on entering the box and attempted to lob the ball over Gurpreet but missed the target.

BFC lacked the cutting edge in the final third despite trying hard to push for an equaliser. The Gaurs dominated the closing stages of the contest. They fashioned chances to finish the game but just couldn’t get past Gurpreet, who pulled off some stunning saves.

MATCH DETAILS - ISL : FC Goa kept pace with their rivals for a top-four spot with a clinical 3-1 victory over Odisha FC at the Fatorda Stadium in the Hero Indian Super League, here on Wednesday.

17/02/2021 (ISL : MATCH-97) : FC GOA - <b><font color=red> 3-1 </b></font> - ODISHA FC

Goals from Alberto Noguera (18') and Jorge Ortiz (26') gave Goa an early lead to the Gaurs before Diego Mauricio (30') pulled one back for Odisha. Ivan Gonzalez (75') then put the result beyond doubt. The victory pushed Goa up to fourth with 27 points, same as Hyderabad FC in third and one point ahead of NorthEast United in fifth. The result also knocks out SC East Bengal from a mathematical chance at the playoffs.

Goa’s first goal was an exemplary display of team effort. A clever through ball from midfield set Gonzalez free down the left and his curling cross was headed in past Odisha keeper Arshdeep Singh by the onrushing Noguera.

Daniel Lalhlimpuia wasted a chance to bring Odisha back on an even keel, and they soon paid for that missed opportunity. Eight minutes after they had taken the lead, Goa went two up through a blistering counter-attack. The move started off an Odisha corner that Goa keeper Dheeraj Singh punched out of the box. The ball found its way to Saviour Gama, who found the run of Ortiz with a pinpoint pass. Ortiz was in behind the Odisha defence and beat the onrushing Arshdeep with a wonderful chip.

At that stage, it looked like Goa was going to run away with the match, but Odisha changed the complexion of the game yet again by grabbing a goal back, just minutes after they had conceded. A cross from Rakesh Pradhan on the left eluded Dheeraj and was headed in by Mauricio at the far post.

There was a chance towards the end of the half when Goa was awarded a freekick at the edge of the box, which came to nothing. The second half saw end-to-end action with both teams going in search of a goal. While Goa had the better chances, Odisha still had opportunities to find an equaliser. The best of these chances fell to Mauricio, who received the ball inches away from the near post. However, he went for an audacious back-heel finish and failed to connect properly.

They soon paid for the wasted chances when Goa found a third. The goal was once again down to some poor defending by Odisha. They failed to deal properly with a corner, after Arshdeep had saved Gonzalez's header, and allowed the Spaniard to poke the loose ball home.

MATCH DETAILS - ISL : There were just a few minutes left in the game and Goa needed a goal. There was no doubt as to who everybody's eyes were on. And Ishan Pandita duly delivered!

The youngster's fourth goal of the season handed FC Goa a point as they held Chennaiyin FC to a 2-2 draw at the GMC Stadium in Bambolim in the Hero Indian Super League on Saturday. It continued Pandita's incredible run — his four goals came from bit-part roles over seven games. The draw was Goa's sixth draw in a row and moved them to third place past Hyderabad FC.

13/02/2021 (I-LEAGUE) : CHENNAIYIN FC - <b><font color=red> 2-2 </b></font> - FC GOA

It was Chennaiyin who started stronger, failing to take advantage of a couple of early chances. But just when it looked like their profligacy in front of goal was going to cost them, Chennaiyin took the lead.

It was Reagan Singh who paved the way for the goal with some great work down the right wing. He found Jakub Sylvestr through an army of Goa defenders, who took a couple of touches before finding an excellent finish despite losing his balance and going to the ground.

Chennaiyin's lead lasted less than six minutes. Goa went looking for the equaliser and were awarded a penalty. Eli Sabia, while rivalling Igor Angulo to get to a cross only managed to do so with his hand and the referee promptly pointed to the spot. There was some drama as Angulo slotted home the penalty only for the referee to order him to retake it. But the Spaniard made no mistake the second time as he dragged his team back to level terms.

Despite conceding, Chennaiyin mustered up enough resolve to go on the attack again and it was them who fashioned the better chances in the first half. The best of them came right before the halftime whistle as Sylvestr hit the woodwork, despite only having Goa keeper Dheeraj Singh to beat.

Chennaiyin's endeavour yielded fruits in the second half as they retook the lead. But the goal did not make for good viewing for Goa fans as it came from confusion between Dheeraj and his defenders. The young keeper came out for the ball only to run into one of his defenders. The ball found its way to an unmarked Lallianzuala Chhangte who made no mistake from close range.

It looked like Goa would rue that mistake as the match progressed into injury time without them looking like finding an equaliser. However, then came Pandita with his knack for scoring late goals.

08/02/2021 (ISL : Match 87) : MUMBAI CITY FC - <b><font color=red> 3-3 </b></font> - FC GOA

The Islanders took the lead through Hugo Boumous (20’) and Adam Le Fondre (26’) but goals from Glan Martins (45’) and Igor Angulo (51’) made it all square. But just when it looked like the match was heading for a draw, Rowllin Borges struck late (90') to put Mumbai ahead only to see his effort canceled out by Pandita in the final minutes of the game. Goa are now on a nine-game unbeaten run.

Goa dominated the match in terms of possession and passing but Mumbai's defense stood tall denying the Gaurs. Despite only completing half as many passes as their opponents, Mumbai still managed to walk into the breather with a one-goal cushion. Sergio Lobera’s team relied on counters and had more shots on target. They had four on target of which they converted two.

Boumous was full of life against his former team and fired an early warning when he raced past Adil Khan on the right, and attempted to cut the ball back. But Dheeraj Singh got a firm hand on the ball. But the Frenchman put his team ahead, scoring from a quick counter in the 20th minute. Goa were on the attack but Edu Bedia lost the ball to Raynier Fernandes. After the ball fell to Le Fondre, the Englishman released Boumous into acres of space. Boumous took the ball around Dheeraj to score into an empty net.

Le Fondre doubled Mumbai’s tally courtesy poor defending from Goa. Bipin Singh sent in a curling corner at the far post where Hernan Santana headed towards goal. But an alert Dheeraj managed to keep it out only to see the rebound headed into goal by Le Fondre for his ninth goal of the season.

Glan scored a stunner to reduce the deficit before the break. Jorge Ortiz played a pass to Glan at the halfway line and the new signing, who was making his first start for Goa, fired a thunderbolt which crashed into the Mumbai net. Goa came out stronger in the second session and restored parity soon. Alberto Noguera whipped in a cross from the left to find Angulo, who managed to time his run perfectly to beat the offside trap and score.

After missing a couple of sitters, Borges finally scored in the 90th minute when he guided in Ahmed Jahouh’s free-kick from the left. But there was still time left for another goal. Goa scored a stoppage-time leveler through Pandita who headed in Bedia’s cross.

04/02/2021 (ISL: MATCH-81 )</b> : NORTH EAST UNITED - <b><font color=red> 2-2 </b></font> - FC GOA

Goa opened the scoring through Alexander Romario Jesuraj (21') before NEUFC netted the equaliser after a penalty from Gallego (41'). The Gaurs took the lead again through an own goal from Gurjinder Kumar (80') before Gallego scored from the spot again in the 83rd minute to stretch NEUFC's unbeaten run to five games.

Goa started bright and broke the deadlock in the 21st minute. Jorge Ortiz got to the byline after making a brilliant run and his cutback found Alberto Noguera outside the box. The latter laid the ball towards Jesuraj who scored with a simple tap-in to hand Goa the lead.

NEUFC eventually grew into the game and fashioned better chances in the second quarter of the opening half. They had a penalty claim denied after the half-hour mark. Gallego's through ball found Deshorn Brown, who had his heels clipped by Adil Khan before the ball hit Goa keeper Dheeraj Singh and went out for a corner.

However, their efforts would pay off soon as they won a penalty towards the end of the first half. The referee pointed to the spot after Luis Machado was tripped in the box by Noguera. Gallego sent Dheeraj the wrong way to restore parity for the Highlanders. NEUFC continued to put Goa on the backfoot after the change of ends. They fashioned two great chances to make a comeback around the hour-mark but Dheeraj produced two fine saves.

The Gaurs would go on to take the lead in the game again, this time from a set-piece. Ortiz whipped in a teasing cross from a corner towards Amarjit Singh who managed to get his header on target after beating Khassa Camara. Gurjinder made his best efforts to clear the ball away on the touchline but ended up conceding an own goal.

However, similar to the first half, there was drama again as NEUFC won a second penalty. Gallego again was at the heart of the move as he found Ashutosh Mehta on the right flank, who was fouled by Ivan Gonzalez in the box. Gallego stepped up to take the penalty again and Dheeraj guessed right this time, managing to block it. But the ball tricked into the net.

MATCH REPORT - ISL : 10-men FC Goa managed to fend off a tough press by Kerala Blasters to settle for a point with a 1-1 draw in the Hero Indian Super League at GMC Stadium, Bambolim, on Saturday.

The Gaurs took the lead through a 25th-minute strike from Jorge Ortiz Mendoza while Rahul KP (57’) scored with a brilliant header in the second half. Goa were reduced to 10 men in the second half after Ivan Gonzalez received marching orders, receiving two yellow cards within a span of seconds.

The Gaurs deservingly took the lead in the 25th minute from a set-piece. Ortiz’s freekick from the left took a slight deflection off Sahal Abdul Samad’s head and looped over Gomes.

Kerala had their goal disallowed just before the breather. Facundo Pereyra chipped in a cross from a corner, which fell to Bakary Kone who used his thigh first, and then his arm to find the back of the net. However, the referee ruled out Kone’s goal for handball after consulting the linesman.

In the second half, Kerala restored parity through Rahul. Pereyra delivered yet another beautiful cross through a corner. Rahul timed his run to perfection at the far post and headed the ball past Goa keeper Naveen Kumar.

As Kerala gained momentum, Gaurs suddenly found themselves on the backfoot. Gonzalez received a quick double booking to reduce Goa to 10 men. Gonzalez was initially cautioned for his tackle on Gary Hooper. Then the referee flashed the second yellow after Gonzalez touched him while protesting.

Goa were forced to defend in the final quarter of the game as Kerala tried to take advantage of the extra man. However, their poor decision making in the final third saw them squandering a couple of chances and the game ended all square.

The Mariners currently placed at the 2nd position in the League table, won the first round match on 16th December by a solitary goal scored by Roy Krishna at the 85th minute of the match.

Arindam Bhattacharjee who had an injury in his eye during the course of the match against Mumbai City are now fit enough to play against FC Goa on Sunday. In an interview with the ATK Mohun Bagan media Arindam Bhattacharjee talked about the importance of FC Goa's match. He said, “Goa is a strong and balanced team. One of the strong contenders to win the tournament like us. The strategy given by the coach against them has to be applied properly. There is no reason not to win if we can play your own game. Yes, we lost to Mumbai, but we could have won that match. It is a long league. Still half of the matches are left. I don’t want to think about that match. I don't think the effect of that match will be felt on Sunday's match. Instead, on Sunday we will be more cautious as well as desperate to play well. Because if we don't win this match, we will fall behind in the league table."

Arindam is now fully fit after recovering an eye injury which he had in the last match against Mumbai City. While interacting he said, “There is no problem with my eyes now. It can hurt a little while playing. I am preparing to return to the dressing room keeping the target intact. We will not enter the field thinking that we will win the second match as we had won the first match against Goa. We will play the game just like another new match and we have to win.”

The Spanish coach of ATK Mohun Bagan, Antonio Habas in the virtual Press conference just before the match against FC Goa said, "A victory on Sunday is vital when it comes to catching up with leaders Mumbai City FC at the top, a prospect made bleaker by the defeat to Sergio Lobera's team in the last match. We have to fight, we have to win every game. We are not thinking about the last match. I know that Goa has good players, we also have good players. Now we are ready to fight it out in the 90 minutes in the next match."

The match will start at Fatorda at 7.30 PM.

We got to keep going and keep doing what we got to do. Let’s not lose games and that’s what we are trying to do."

Regarding the injury of Raju Gaikwad, Robbie Fowler said, "I am not here to tell who is playing and who's not because I don't want to make the opposition manager's job easy. Top scorer Igor Angulo was a surprise exclusion as Alberto Noguera came in, allowing Ortiz to play in the number 9 role.Owen Coyle made just two changes with Narender Gahlot and Issac Vanmalsawma starting ahead of Joyner Lourenco and Jackichand Singh.

14/01/ 21 (ISL - MATCH 58) : FC GOA --(<b><font color=red> 3-0 </b></font>)-- JAMSHEDPUR FC

It was end-to-end play in the opening minutes which saw both sides fashion goal-scoring opportunities. Jamshedpur had an early opportunity to take the lead when they were awarded a free-kick outside the box. Aitor Monroy's outswinging freekick into the box was there to be put in by Peter Hartley, but the skipper couldn't get the right connection.

At the other end, Goa pressured the opponents and nearly broke the deadlock when Brandon Fernandes played Ortiz through on goal, but the latter’s shot was kept out by TP Rehenesh. However, the custodian couldn’t stop Ortiz in the 19th minute. Noguera’s brilliance on the right saw him get past his marker with quick feet and composure. The Spaniard then squared to Ortiz, who fired into the bottom corner.

JFC had their best chance to level terms in the 25th minute. Alexandre Lima got past James Donachie on the left and on reaching the byline, played a cutback pass for Valskis. But the Lithuanian’s strike was saved by Naveen.Soon after the restart, Ortiz scored his second. Noguera played Brandon through and the Goan squared it towards Ortiz. He took a first-time shot, which hit the post but he did not miss on the rebound.

Ortiz had the chance to complete his hat-trick a while later but this time, Rehenesh pulled off a fine save. While the Goa attackers were doing their job, they were well backed up by their keeper Naveen, who was at his best to frustrate JFC strikers. Naveen denied his former teammate Jackichand Singh with a brilliant save to ensure a clean sheet.

Things got worse for JFC when Lima was sent off for his second yellow after a tackle on substitute Devendra Murgaonkar. Then, Goa scored their third through Ivan Gonzalez. The defender played a one-two with Angulo at the edge of the box and dinked the ball past Rehenesh, into the net.

30.12.20 : (ISL : M-43) : HYDERABAD FC -- <b><font color=red> 1-2 </b></font> -- FC GOA

Aridane Santana (58') put Hyderabad ahead but Goa left it late and scored through substitute Ishan Pandita (87') and Igor Angulo (90') to inflict a third successive defeat on the Nizams.

Joel Chianese, making a return from injury, was among the three changes made by Hyderabad while Lenny Rodrigues came back in the line-up for Goa. Both teams failed to create clear-cut chances in the first-half, staying defensively organised. As a result, no shots on target were registered. But it was Goa, who appeared more threatening.

They missed the chance to grab the lead in the 10th minute through the first corner of the game. Brandon Fernandes whipped in a teasing cross for James Donachie but the defender failed to get his header on target. Goa fashioned another great chance right before the end of the break. Receiving the ball on the left, Brandon cut inside and flicked the ball for Angulo in the box. The latter tipped his header over the bar.

Hyderabad began the second half aggressively, taking the game to Goa. Their intent soon paid off as they opened the scoring just before the hour mark.

Goa, who have been guilty of conceding from set-pieces, were exposed again. Hyderabad won a throw-in and Asish Rai crossed the ball for Aridane, who headed home from close range to bag his fifth goal of the season. The Gaurs too had their chances and missed a great opportunity to draw parity in the 69th minute. Brandon drilled a cross across the face of goal for Jorge Ortiz Mendoza, who made a run into the box but failed to connect.

Two minutes later, Aridane had the ball in the back of the net, after receiving a ball from Yasir, but was flagged offside. Goa kept knocking on the door but lacked the cutting edge in the final third, failing to register a single shot on target. But Juan Ferrando's men, like they did in the previous game against Jamshedpur, displayed fighting spirit.

The equaliser came through a set-piece as Pandita flicked in Edu Bedia's free-kick at the far post with his first touch of the game. Minutes later, Angulo netted his ninth goal of the season. Substitute Alberto Noguera threaded a ball through for the striker who produced an excellent finish to seal the three points for Goa.

MATCH DETAILS - ISL : Igor Angulo scored a stoppage-time winner to help FC Goa script a thrilling 2-1 win over Jamshedpur FC in the Hero Indian Super League at Tilak Maidan, Vasco, on Wednesday.

23.12.20 : (ISL: M-38) : JAMSHEDPUR FC -- ( <b><font color=red> 1-2 </b></font>) -- FC GOA

Stephen Eze (33’) had put Jamshedpur ahead in the first half but Angulo’s brilliant brace (64’, 90+4’) helped Goa claim all three points and end JFC's six-match unbeaten run.

Both sides showed attacking intent from the word go but had just a single shot on target in the first half as they failed to create clear-cut opportunities.

Brandon Fernandes had a chance to put his side ahead in the game early on when he was set up by Jorge Ortiz on the left. The midfielder got the ball at the edge of the box and curled at the far post, but only to see his attempt miss the top corner.

Jamshedpur broke the deadlock at the half-hour mark and the goal came from a set-piece. Aitor Monroy put in a long ball at the far post and Eze managed to beat Mohammad Nawaz with an outstretched right foot. The Goa custodian should have done better.

Jamshedpur’s defence frustrated Goa's attack in the first half, with Eze standing tall at the back. The defender was there to thwart every danger posed by the Gaurs. Though Goa dominated in terms of possession and passes, they hardly tested Jamshedpur keeper TP Rehenesh in the first 45 minutes.

JFC nearly doubled the lead, soon after the restart but Nawaz’s brilliant save kept his side in the game. Isaac Vanmalsawma found Jackichand Singh and the former Goa player played a first-time pass to Aniket Jadhav. He pulled the trigger but an alert Nawaz did well to deflect the ball over the bar.

Goa squandered an opportunity when Angulo shot wide with only the keeper at his mercy. Minutes later, Ortiz had a shot saved by Rehenesh. But Goa were not to be denied. The Gaurs were awarded a penalty when James Donachie was brought down in the box by Alexandre Lima. Angulo sent the keeper in the wrong direction to net his seventh goal of the competition.

Jamshedpur nearly restored their lead in the 70th minute but Nerijus Valskis’ brilliantly-taken free-kick came off the crossbar.

Goa were lucky not to concede late in the game when Valskis played Lima on goal. The latter took a first-time shot which hit the crossbar, bounced off the line, and came back in to play. But replays suggested that the ball bounced inside the goal.

That decision would cost Jamshedpur dear as Angulo guided in a corner-kick in stoppage time to gift Goa the win.

REPORT - ISL : Chennaiyin FC finally managed to register a win after five games, with 2-1 victory over FC Goa in the Hero Indian Super League at Fatorda Stadium, Goa, on Saturday. In a game that saw 39 shots at goal, Rahim Ali (53’) scored the match-winner after Jorge Ortiz (9’) cancelled out Rafael Crivellaro’s (5’) olympic-goal opener.

19.12.20 (ISL - Match 33) : FC GOA <b><font color=red> 1-2 </b></font> CHENNAIYIN FC

Chennaiyin FC fired warning shots early in the game. Thapa made a darting run on the right and cut the ball back to an unmarked Crivellaro. The latter’s first-time shot was pushed behind by Mohammad Nawaz. The visitors were soon ahead in the game and it came from a moment of individual brilliance. Crivellaro got his corner-kick to loop over the Goa defenders and land in goal.

But the lead lasted for just four minutes as the Gaurs came up with an instant response in the 9th minute. Ortiz found Alexander Jesuraj on the right who squared the ball back to the Spaniard. His shot found the roof of the net.

The visitors had yet another chance to go ahead in the game just before the break. But Chhangte failed to keep his composure in front of the goal. Raegen’s effort from left was saved by Nawaz but the ball fell to an unmarked Chhangte who once again failed to direct his shot at goal, leaving Laszlo in agony on the touchline.

Chennaiyin finally got their deserved lead in the 53rd minute when Crivellaro kept his composure in beating Donachie before playing a low cross at the far post where second-half substitute Rahim Ali had little work to tap the ball into empty net.

ISL REPORT : A second successive win helped FC Goa climb to fourth on the Hero Indian Super League Season 7 table as they beat a gritty Odisha FC 1-0 at the GMC Stadium, here on Saturday. Igor Angulo (45+1’) netted the winner to help Juan Ferrando’s side register another victory. Arshdeep Singh shone for Odisha between the sticks but their inefficiency upfront meant Stuart Baxter’s side remained winless in the competition.

12/12/2020 : (ISL: M-25) ODISHA FC -- <b><font color=red> 0-1 </b></font> -- FC GOA

Vinit Rai was handed his first start of the season as Odisha made four changes to their line-up. Ferrando rang in just one change as Alberto Noguera replaced Edu Bedia. Goa outplayed their opponents in the first half and headed into the break with a one-goal lead, Angulo scoring in injury time.

The Gaurs dominated proceedings from the start while Odisha decided to stay compact and absorb the pressure. Jorge Ortiz Mendoza, a constant threat on the left flank, had an opportunity to give Goa the lead during the 16th minute. Brandon Fernandes won the ball and threaded a pass for Ortiz on the left. The forward cut inside into acres of space but dragged his shot wide. However, despite dominating possession, the Gaurs failed to penetrate the Odisha defence, who kept things tight at the back. Odisha, too applied pressure on Goa’s backline towards the end of the first half, mainly through Diego Mauricio but Goa’s backline did well to thwart the danger.

Goa’s perseverance finally paid off towards the end of the first half with Angulo getting himself on the scoresheet again. Romario beat his marker on the left and found the Spaniard in the box, who created space to fool Jacob Tratt before drilling his shot into the bottom left-handed corner. The second half got off to an interesting start with both sides showing intent. Odisha pushed hard for an equaliser and nearly came close just before the hour mark. After a counter-attack, the ball fell to Cole Alexander, at the edge of the box. The midfielder, however, fired his shot wide.

The Gaurs fashioned two clear-cut opportunities during the 64th minute but Arshdeep produced a stunning double save to keep his side in the game. The Odisha custodian first blocked a shot from Angulo with his leg. The ball was eventually cleared and fell to Princeton Rebello. The substitute found Mendoza outside the box but the latter was denied as Arshdeep dived full stretch. The Odisha FC keeper produced another double save during the dying minutes of the game, denying both Mendoza and Len Doungel.

MATCH DETAILS : FC Goa bagged their first win in the Hero Indian Super League Season 7 as they thumped Kerala Blasters 3-1 at the Fatorda Stadium, here on Sunday.

06/12/2020 :<b><font color=blue> (ISL: M-19) </b></font> FC GOA <b><font color=red> 3-1 </b></font> KERALA BLASTERS FC

A brace from Igor Angulo (30', 90') and one from Jorge Ortiz Mendoza (52') ensured Juan Ferrando picked up his first win as Goa head coach. Vincente Gomez (90') scored a consolation goal for Kerala. The home side came close to grabbing the lead once again seven minutes later, only to be denied by the upright. A miscued pass from Rohit Kumar put Angulo through on goal. The striker, with only the keeper to beat, attempted to curl his shot into the bottom corner but it struck the far post.

However, Angulo soon made up for the missed opportunity around the half-hour mark as he put Goa ahead. Gama flicked the ball towards Angulo in the box and the striker delightfully dinked it over Kerala goalkeeper Albino Gomes to bag his fourth goal of the season. Goa returned hungrier after the break and continued to pile on the pressure. Their efforts soon bore fruit as they doubled their lead through Mendoza. The forward received the ball outside the box and traded a lovely one-two with Brandon Fernandes before burying his shot into the far corner.

Kibu Vicuna's side threatened on quite a few occasions but were unable to find the back of the net. When a goal did arrive for them, the contest had already been settled in Goa's favour. Nishu whipped a cross for Gomez, whose header snuck into goal after brushing the underside of the crossbar. Kerala captain Costa Nhamoinesu was given his marching orders late on during injury time after being shown a second yellow card, following a rash tackle on Princeton Rebello. Goa added another goal late in injury time as Angulo pounced on a blunder from Gomez.

REPORT - ISL : NorthEast United extended their unbeaten run to three games after frustrating FC Goa in a 1-1 draw in their Hero Indian Super League Season 7 encounter at the Fatorda Stadium on Monday. Goa are yet to record three points this season.

Idrissa Sylla (40’ p) scored the opening goal before Igor Angulo (43’) equalised just before the break.

Brandon Fernandes was handed his first start of the season along with Aibanbha Kupar Dohling as Goa boss Juan Ferrando made three changes to the side which had suffered a defeat to Mumbai City FC. Jorge Ortiz Mendoza started with James Donachie benched. NorthEast made as many as five changes to the side which came from behind to hold Kerala in a thrilling 2-2 draw. Sylla was preferred ahead of Kwesi Appiah. Provat Lakra, Luis Machado, Lalrempuia Fanai and Britto PM were the other fresh faces.

Goa were keen to impose themselves on the Highlanders and came close in the fifth minute. Fernandes played a long diagonal pass from inside his own half to find Mendoza on the flank, but the latter shot straight at keeper Subhasish Chowdhury. The Gaurs were clearly the better side in the first quarter enjoying almost 70 percent possession. They were all over NorthEast territory trying to create spaces, but their sloppy passing let them down.

The Highlanders, who relied mostly on counters, had their opportunities too. At the half-hour mark, the visitors nearly scored. But Sylla couldn’t keep his composure in front of the goal as he headed Britto’s deflected cross over the bar. Sylla’s presence troubled Goa’s defence. And the Guinean earned a penalty in the 39th minute for the Highlanders when he was tripped by Ivan Gonzalez. Sylla, who had to retake his penalty, kept his cool to put his side ahead in the game, scoring his third goal of the season.

The joy was short-lived as Goa restored parity in the 43rd minute and it was Fernandes once again with a fine assist. Edu Bedia found Fernandes on the left flank, who took on Lakra and hooked a low cross into the box, where Angulo flicked it into the goal. FC Goa continued from where they left off and came close to scoring early in the second half. Angulo and Mendoza missed chances. With just six minutes left on the clock, Goa nearly found a winner as Alberto Noguera was denied by the post. His low shot beat the keeper but kissed the frame and went out for a goal kick.

MATCH REPORT - ISL : For the longest time, it looked like Mumbai City were going to be frustrated by FC Goa in their Hero Indian Super League Season 7 encounter at the Fatorda Stadium on Wednesday. Sergio Lobera's men had played much of the match with a man-advantage after Redeem Tlang got a first-half red card. But dogged defending from Goa and Mumbai's own lack of fluency looked to be taking the match to a draw.

25.11.2020 :(ISL- M6) : FC GOA --- ( <b><font color=red> 0-1 </b></font> ) --- MUMBAI CITY FC (FT)

Then, at the very death, Adam Le Fondre stepped up and fired in a penalty to ensure that Lobera got the better of his former team. Lobera made three changes to the side that lost to NorthEast United. Bartholomew Ogbeche and Mohamad Rakip dropped to the bench with Ahmed Jahouh suspended following his red card. Amey Ranawde, Cy Stephen Goddard and Mourtada Fall all came into the starting XI.

Goa coach Juan Ferrando named an attacking team. Left-back Saviour Gama was back in the side after a suspension while Tlang and Alberto Noguera were selected ahead of Princeton Rebello and Jorge Ortiz. The Gaurs had the first chance in the eighth minute when Noguera found Igor Angulo with a low cross, but the latter’s poor first touch let him down. Mumbai played with intent with Le Fondre constantly troubling Goa’s left flank. But they couldn’t convert their dominance into chances as they failed to record a single shot on goal in the first session.

The Gaurs then suffered a huge blow in the 40th minute when Tlang was shown red for his two-footed tackle on Hernan Santana. Surprisingly, it was Goa who started more aggressively in the second half. They nearly took the lead just after the restart when Angulo sprinted in the box, only to see his shot narrowly miss the post.

At the other end, Goa keeper Mohammed Nawaz almost gifted Mumbai a goal. His last-ditch clearance brushed the onrushing Le Fondre, but the touch wasn’t enough to send the ball to the back of the net. With less than a quarter to go, Mandar Rao Dessai squandered a great chance. Le Fondre's low shot was met by the left-back, but with just the keeper at his mercy, his touch proved too heavy, sending the ball over the post.

After constant knocking, Mumbai were finally awarded a penalty in the 5th minute of stoppage time after Lenny Rodrigues handled Bipin Singh’s header. Le Fondre's powerful drive gave Nawaz, who dived in the right direction, no chance.

ISL PRESS RELEASE : Clever substitutions did the trick for FC Goa as the Gaurs rescued a hard-fought point after an entertaining 2-2 draw against Bengaluru FC in match four of the Hero Indian Super League Season 7 at the Fatorda Stadium here on Sunday. Cleiton Silva (27') and Juanan Gonzalez (57') put Bengaluru ahead before Goa hit back through a brace from Igor Angulo (66', 69').

Goa dominated possession early on, with Bengaluru happy to sit back and maintain their defensive shape. However, both teams failed to create clear-cut opportunities in the opening quarter.

Bengaluru registered their first shot on goal in the 11th minute when Ashique Kuruniyan cut inside from the left, beating three men, before switching onto his weaker right foot. However, his tame attempt on goal was well collected by Goa custodian Mohammad Nawaz.

Three minutes before the half-hour mark, the visitors got their lead in unusual fashion, a throw-in creating confusion in the Goa box. Harmanjot Khabra's throw from the left was flicked on towards the face of goal after Jorge Ortiz Mendoza's clearance. Silva was the first to react and headed home to hand Bengaluru the lead.

It wasn't until the 45th minute that Goa got their first shot on goal. Seriton Fernandes' cross found Angulo, whose deft flick went straight to Bengaluru keeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu. The visitors made one change after the change of ends, with Deshorn Brown replacing Kristian Opseth.

Bengaluru soon doubled their lead and it came through a set-piece again, with Juanan getting on the scoresheet - the club's 100th goal in ISL history. Goa's defence was caught napping as a free-kick by Kuruniyan was nodded on by Brown towards Erik Paartalu. The Australian headed the ball onto Gonzalez's path. The Spaniard made no mistake from close range and scored on the volley.

22/11/20 <b><font color=red>(ISL : M-3) </b></font> : FC GOA - <b><font color=red> 2-2 </b></font> - BENGALURU FC <b> (FT)

Goa made two attacking substitutions around the hour mark, bringing on Brandon Fernandes and Alberto Noguera, and soon found their way back in to the contest with two goals from Igor Angulo in the space of as many minutes.

Angulo first cut short the deficit with a neat finish following lovely link-up play between Fernandes and Noguera. The striker then chested a ball into the net for the equaliser after substitute Alexander Jesuraj squared a pass from the right. Mendoza had a chance to score the winner for Goa in injury time. However, his shot was kept away by Sandhu.
