Salgaocar FC's U-14 were crowned Champions of the GFA 1st Division U-14 league

salgaocar press release : Salgaocar FC's U-14 were crowned Champions of the GFA 1st Division U-14 league after finishing the season unbeaten on 30 points from a possible 36. 'The Greens' won 9 of the matches played and drew 3, scoring a whopping 43 goals in the process, whilst conceding only 9. Whilst Salgaocar did play all of their first leg matches, as many as 3 teams withdrew from the tournament during the course of the second leg, thereby ensuring an early finish to the league.

Salgaocar's teenagers drew much praise from several quarters for their attacking and entertaining style of football. The team's success can be attributed to the hard work by the players and coaching staff with Aaron Barreto and Samward Pereira exhibiting outstanding performances during the tournament.

Thus far this season, Salgaocar's juniors have emerged with 2 trophies already. In addition to the triumph of the U-14s, the U-19s annexed the GFA Third Division title whilst also qualifying for the final leg of the All-India U-19 I-League played in Pune, where they finished third. With the U-18s and U-20s performing exceedingly well in the GFA U-18 league and the Taca Goa respectively, the count is far from over. The success is also testimony to the club's famed Youth Development System, upon which huge emphasis is laid.

It is also no secret that the club's investment on youth development is significantly higher than most I-League clubs, with the budding footballers being provided the best facilities and training all year round opposed to merely for a couple of months, prior to and during a tournament. In addition, sessions on various important aspects including diet and nutrition are held for all the youth teams through the course of the year.
