About Author::Shaji Prabhakaran after spending 5 years with AIFF has
decided to move out in April 2009. Now he is engaged as an indpendent football
analyst and consultant, and having plan to launch various project for the growth
of Indian football through various partnerships. At AIFF he was Director Vision and
National Teams & Youth. As head of football development he made significant
contribution towards Indian football through various project and grassroots
initiatives.
He is actively involved with Indian football for more than a decade in various
capacity and before joining AIFF he had a successful tenure with Chandigarh
Football Academy, where he played a crucial role in setting up a good structure
and programme for the Academy, and the products of the academy is continuously
doing well and many of them represented India in the various age group teams.
He has achieved wide range of professional qualifications and his highest
qualification is Doctorate Degree in Physical Education (Specialized in Football).
Other qualification includes MBA, Sports Management, coaching. He was also
privileged to under go courses organized by AFC and UEFA. During his assignment
with Chandigarh Football Academy he was also engaged in teaching at University
level for good number of years, he was a Guest Faculty in Sports Management
with Punjab University and Guest Lecturer in three Colleges affiliated to Punjab
University.
His academic achievements are remarkable, he was awarded Junior and Senior
Research Fellowship of University Grants Commission, Govt. of India from 1996 to
2000. Thus he was engaged in full time research for four years, and completed
four research projects in Sports and Football.
He is now established himself as an excellent football administrator. In his free
time he is also involved in charitable work with NGOs for the development of
community through sports. He also plans to start charitable online football help
site to help the community.
He played football at University level but his playing career was cut short by a
serious knee injury at the age of 21 years. After injury he concentrated on
academics related to sports in general and football in particular, and thus he
could develop himself to what he is today.
Since 1998 he is writing for various magazines and web sites on different issues
related to football. We are very happy that he has agreed to write for us on
various issues highlighting important aspects of world football.
