India beat Nepal 3-1 to lift the SAFF WOMEN CHAMPIONSHIP Trophy for 2nd time

India Sr. Women Football team lift 2nd SAF Women Football championship at Colombo beat Nepal 3-1 in the final match today held at Comolbo, Srilanka. India also won the 1st edition in Bangladesh also beat Nepal 1-0.

Today Nepal scored first in 3rd minutes of the match through Dipa Adhikari but Supriya RouthRoy equalized the scoreline in 8th minutes. In frist half India got two Free kicks but both times Bembem's shot wll saved by Nepal keeper Namita.Bemben Shown Yellow card as she fouled Sanjana of Nepal. India Keeper Aditi Chauhan well saved a powerful shot of Nepal from top of the box via corner. The first half ended 1-1.

In few minutes after starting of 2nd half Indian striker Sasmita got a chance to score but his close shot went wide over the cross bar. Inddia got the free kick in 64th minute from where captain Bembem Devi scored and India was leading 2-1. Kamaldevi also got a chance few minutes after but his shot missed th target. Indian defender Tuli goon fould a player of Nepal and Nepal appealed for her red card but refere denid.

Finally, Kamala Devi scored the winning goal for India in 86th minute to lift the Trophy for 2nd time.
The Football Association of Odisha has decided to felicitate their four women football players (1) Sita Sharma, 2)Supriya Routray, 3) Alochona Senapati, 4) Lochona Munda. who represented India.Mr. Sanjay Behera, Hony. Secretary of Football Association of Odisha told us that an amount of Rs 10000/-(Rupees Ten thousand will be swarded them. The Coach National Team Md. Sahid Jabbar and the G.K Coach Mrs Ranjita Mohanty will also be awarded with a cash prize of Rs 10000/-(Rupees Ten Thousand each)

India Women beat Afganistan 11-0 to reach in the final for 2nd time

AIFF MEDIA : India Women's National Team cruised into the final of the second Women's SAFF Championship after mauling Afghanistan 11-0 at the CR & FC ground in Colombo on Friday. Oinam Bem Bem Devi and co. will meet either Nepal or hosts Sri Lanka in the summit clash on Sunday.

India - oozing with confidence after decimating their opponents to reach this far - continued from where they left against Bhutan in their last outing. They took the lead as early as in the 4th minute through Yumnam Kamala Devi who went on to score two more goals in the second half.

The Afghans were no match to India's prowess as the Women in Blue looked in sublime touch scoring another three in the first half. Prameshwori Devi, skipper Bem Bem Devi and Sasmita Mallick found the back of the net.

As if the first half was a trailer of things to come. India scored seven goals after the break with Sasmita's hattrick standing tall. Bem Bem Devi scored one more while Pinky Bompal added another in the 80th minute. Kamala Devi completed the rout in stoppage time.

Must Make Women's Football Popular In South Asia - says India Manager

ADHIRAJ DUTTA : Today after India's convincing 11-0 victory over Bhutan in the Women's SAFF Championships in Colombo, Sri Lanka, the Indian team manager Sudeshna Mukherjee Nag revealed a lot about the state of women's football in India in the post match conference held in the Colombo Football House.

"Though cricket is like a "monopoly sport" in India, football is slowly gaining popularity in our country. But the problem is women's football has been neglected considerably", said Mukherjee." We must take major steps in order to make women's football more lucrative in South Asia. We must take the initiative of developing the game in terms of infrastructure and in the grass root levels."

Sudeshna Mukherjee further added "Even conservative countries of the Muslim World are not much behind us in terms of standards. Their women have succeeded in shedding their burkhas and have progressed much in the world of football, the most prominent being Afghanistan."

The Blue Tigresses( as the national women's football team is called) have won all their matches in the 2012 SAFF Championships, netting an amazing tally of 19 goals in just 3 matches.

Defending Champions India scored 19 goals so far in Group League three matches and reach in the Semi Final of the Tournament. Today in the 3rd and last match of the Group leagye Indian women beat Bhutan 11-0. In first half India was leading 6-0. Pinky Bompal scored hattrick in the match. In earned full 9 points without conseding a goal in these three matches.

AIFF MEDIA : Having already booked their place in the semi-finals, a relaxed Indian Women's Team simply toyed with an out of sorts Bhutan outfit in their last group engagement of the Women’s SAFF Championship in Colombo on Tuesday (September 11).

The goal fest started as early as in the 14th minute when West Bengal's Tuli Goon found the back of the net. There was no stopping the defending champions from there on. Pinky Bombal’s hattrick and Parmeshwari Devi’s brace highlighted India's superlative recital on the day.

Bhutan were wary of India from the beginning playing defensive football, but Oinam Bem Bem Devi and co capitalised on that and attacked mercilessly. Such has been India's performance so far that not only have they won all three of their matches but also managed to keep a clean sheet throughout the group league.

India play their semifinal on September 14

2nd win of Indian Women in 2nd SAFF Women Champion ship at Colombo today mornning when they routed Sri Lanka 5-0. Defending Champions India also won their first match against Bangladesh also. India was leading 2-0 in first half and in 2nd half India scored three more goals within 11 minutes.

Suprova scored the opener for India from her powerful right footer from top of the box in 17th minute. Just 6 minute later Rinaroy doubled the margin for India when her shot from out side the Sri Lankan Box beat their keeper Champa.

In 2nd half Rinaroy score her 2nd and 3rd for India in 51st minute of the match. India was leading 4-0 through Pinky Bompal in 53rd minute. Parameswori Devi scored 5th goal for india just after 3 minutes.

India's last match against Bhutan on 11th Sept.

India Team Manager Sudeshna Mukherjee Nag told that, Indian team are staying in a dormetory of a Hostel and from there the main stadium is more than 1 hour distance, so It's difficult to adjust her team to show more good performances. She also told that, SAFF organisation should look after more attention to the Women Footballers who are participating in this Tournament.

Like Men Footballers, Women Footballers should get more fecelities and comforts before their playing. She thought that European Women Footballers get more fecelities than what they gets. She added that, SAFF orginisors should think about it to get better performances.

AIFF Release : Second half goals from midfielder Yumnam Kamala Devi, skipper Oinam Bem Bem Devi and defender Alochana Senapati sealed a comprehensive victory for the India women’s National Team in their opener against Bangladesh in the SAFF’s Women Championship in Colombo on Friday.

A goalless first half was followed by a goal fest as the eves in blue found the back of the net thrice. Kamala Devi opened the scoring in the 64th minute followed by Bem Bem Devi in the 76th. Senapati completed the rout two minutes from regulation time.

India were superb in the second half even as heavy rains forced a halt of an hour. India next play Sri Lanka on September 9.
