Robin Dutt, a new Coach of a Bundesliga Football Germany

From Germany : Dibyendu Choudhuri

What is remarkable about him?

42 years old Robin Dutt. Son of an Indian (Bengali), mother German is currently head coach of Stuttgarter-Kickers in the Regionalliga south Germany.

SC Freiburg, which has recently missed to succeed into first division Bundesliga (just due to short of goal difference), has appointed Robin Dutt as their new head coach for coming two Bundesliga sessions. When appointing Dutt, the President of Freiburg commented: “we are very happy to have signed a young and dedicated coach in Robin Dutt, who meets our high requirements. Mr. Dutt has been doing an excellent job at Stuttgarter-Kickers and he shares our philosophy of promoting young players.”

Robin Dutt started his football carrier from lower division, initially as player and gradually went upto upper division and ended as player-cum-trainer.

Dutt’s three years of coaching to Stuttgarter-Kickers was very hard with a great deal of problems which some time appeared impossible to solve. Kickers a known traditional club, was almost in the verge of falling down to fourth division and financially just in the phase of insolvency. Dutt developed the club to a financially consolidated upcoming candidate to higher division. His team won twice in succession South German regional cup and qualified to German cup. Dutt feels proud to achieve those successes with financial constraint. In the course of league session he trained at least eight to nine players into star eleven of his team. Those players were scouted either from his second team playing in 4th division or from other regional clubs. Stuttgarter-Kickers manager once commented: “no one believed the capability, how many such players could be systematically trained and promoted by Robin Dutt. He is a passionate promoter of young boys but also an expert in psychological dealing with players with friendly association. He had always a plan of new ideas and motivation and he knew how to execute them.”

Not only SC Freiburg was interested for Robin who is a graduate of Cologne’s Deutsche Sporthochschule University and stood first for a qualified football coach, but also Hannover 96, a first division Bundesliga club. Last year Dutt’s current team Stuttgarter-Kickers made a sensational win in German cup by knocking out Hamburg, another first division team and one of the teams of European Champion League matches 2006. That was the turning point of Dutt’s carrier and soon he was in the list of many mangers of Bundesliga clubs.

Robin Dutt is looking forward to the new job. He said: “Freiburg has always been top of my wish list. I’ve always admired the way they have been doing excellent job, this legacy is incentive as well as obligation for me promoting young players and supporting further developing the concept.”

SC Freiburg has a football boarding school for talented boys and Robin is going to lead that school as well.
