The Football Hunters is an indian art project and a film documentary of the italian artist, film maker and “Football Hunter Paolo W. Tamburella.
P.W. Tamburella and three misterious Indian Football Hunters travelled across India hunting old, punctured and consumed footballs.
In a country more and more devoted to cricket finding footballs wasn`t an easy task.
A surreal search for hidden footballs became a way to explore India and to portrait many different aspects of the biggest democracy in the world..
Old footballs served as containers for a variety of stories and as keys to enter indian everyday life.
Filmed between flooded football fields, grounds used to breed cows and goats, to host military parades or “infamous cricket games The Football Hunters is a pilgrimage through India that now terminates , after 30 days and more then 4.400km, in Kolkata “The indian capital of Football.
Paolo W. Tamburella and The Football Hunters invite Kolkata`s people to show their love and passion for football and to bring as many old, punctured and damaged footballs as they can to The Footballs Collection Center in Mominpore, Kolkata. We kindly ask the Indian media to help us inform Kolkata people about this event.
The collected footballs will be used to create an exceptional art work “ The Football Land a borderless map made out of footballs from all over India, symbol of life and of collectivity. The Football Land will be stitched in Kolkata and will be hand transported around Mominpore starting from Mominpore Youth Federation Club on Tuesday 12th December 2006 at 3 pm.
