Sports today is big business and has the potential to be a significant contributor to the exchequer apart from generating large scale employment. With the IPL bringing in big bucks in Cricket, the Government creating infrastructure for the Commonwealth Games 2010, speculations of an English Premiership Club buying stake in an IPL team, Coca-Cola, Nike and Panasonic as sponsors of football to Force One unveiling its new car, sports is a multi-billion dollar opportunity in India. Rapid rise of India's middle class with disposable income, a growing economy, growth in TV households, growing advertising market and a mix of Bollywood glamour in sport has given a shot of adrenalin to the Indian sporting industry. The India International Sports Summit 2010 promises to be a landmark sports convention which will champion development of India's sporting industry. It is powered by TransStadia, a Sports and Entertainment company. The first of TransStadia's constellation of 12 stadia is coming up in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, in which up to 12 sports can be hosted. The summit is inclusive and welcomes all stakeholders of the sports industry viz., sportspersons, government, sporting federations, infrastructure, technology, finance, education, advertising and brands, community outreach and entertainment to create a unified voice of the industry. summit will be hald at Trident, Nariman Point, Mumbai on March 24-25, 2010.
