MR. PATEL LAUNCHES AIFF STRATEGIC PLAN 2019-2022

: All India Football Federation President Mr. Praful Patel launched AIFF’s 2nd Strategic Plan in Mumbai on Saturday (March 2, 2019) along with Mr. Theodore Giannikos, FIFA Director, Member Association Services, and Mr Sanjeevan Balasingham, FIFA Director, Member Associations Asia & Oceania.
The first copy was handed over to both the FIFA Directors by Mr. Patel. Similar to the 1st plan, the 2nd Plan has been developed after several months of discussions with key stakeholders of Indian Football. Learnings and shortcomings from executing the 1st Plan were considered in formalizing the key targets.
Furthermore, data from the last 2.5 years (post digitization) were analysed in detail to identify key success factors and improve the quality of delivery of the development programs in future.Similar to the first edition, the 2nd edition is also for a period of 4 years, from January 2019 to December 2022 with the primary objective of aligning it with the next cycle of FIFA Forward (January 2019 to December 2022). FIFA Forward, is the new system of development funding provided by FIFA to its Member Associations. Objectives and targets in this 4-year Plan have been set keeping in mind the long-term goals to be achieved for Indian Football over the next 25 years.
The 1st Strategic Plan had identified 13 core areas of focus for the AIFF along with desired outcomes in each of these areas. In the current Plan, 7 key Strategic Goals have been enlisted on which the AIFF shall work across the 13 core areas that were previously identified. These strategic goals shall act as the connecting threads between individual developmental projects, and shall align key stakeholders and help define priorities while formulating policies, implementing plans and taking decisions.

3. Go Local (Capacity Building at State Associations).
4. More Opportunities for Women.
5. Infrastructure and Legacy (including Mega events).

MEHTAB BID GOODBYE TO PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL
The midfield general and Indian international footballer, Mehtab Hossian finally bid goodbye to professional football. This was officially announced by Mohun Bagan, where Mehtab is playing the final stage of his long and eventful carrier. The thirty three year old midfielder,Mehtab will play his last match against Indian Arrows tomorrow in an I league encounter at Yubabharati Kriangan.
Mehtab played important and memorable matches in Indian domestic circuit as well as in international arena. He played maximum number of matches (232) dawning the Red and Gold colour scored 24 goals.

Mehtab Hossain had the honour of leading both the big clubs of Kolkata as well as Indian football.Mehtab was the captain of Mohun Bagan in the year 2006-07 before he joined his office club ONGC. In his long association, Mehtab lead East Bengal in the year 2013-14. While interacting the midfield general said, “Not winning the I-League will be the biggest regret and I wish I could have played more matches for the national team.”

: Talismanic Indian striker Sunil Chhetri was awarded the first-ever ‘Football Ratna’ by Football Delhi, the State Association governing the sport in Delhi. Dr. Shaji Prabhakaran, President, Delhi Football presented the honour a function at the majestic Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Chhetri, who was recently named as the 6th Indian Footballer in the elite Padma Shri list, said: “I am honoured by the kind gesture of Football Delhi for recognizing me with the Football Ratna award.”
“My support will always be there for the development of football in Delhi. I am sure the current management is working hard to develop football, and make Delhi a model football state in India. My best wishes to everyone associated with the sport in Delhi,” he added. Chhetri who stays second in the list of goal scorers among active players in World Football at the moment, had begun his football career in Delhi.
Dr. Prabhakaran mentioned that “Football Delhi is inspired by Sunil’s spectacular achievements.”“It is a great honour for us to confer first ever ‘Football Ratna’ to Sunil Chhetri, and we express our gratitude and thanks to Sunil for his time and inspiration to develop football in Delhi,” he stated.

His professionalism, dedication, discipline and passion, on and off the field is an example not only for the Indian football fraternity but also for every Indian to dream big and achieve something spectacular in life,” he added.
Meanwhile, Football Delhi also recognized Shubham Sarangi, youth player from Delhi who is currently playing for the ISL franhise Delhi Dynamos FC. Shubham was part of AIFF Youth Academy since 12 years, and has represented India in U-14 and U-17 National Teams.
INDIAN SENIOR WOMEN’S TO PLAY IN TURKISH WOMEN’S CUP

: The Indian Senior Women’s Team will be embarking on an exposure tour to Turkey where they will be playing in the Turkish Women’s Cup from February 27, 2019 onwards. India have been clubbed with Romania, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan in Group A, while France (B), Jordan, Northern Ireland, and hosts Turkey make up Group B.
Every team will play each other in the group once with the group-toppers making it to the final. There will also be matches for the 3rd and the 4th slot, the 5th and the 6th slot, and the 7th and the 8th places. The tournament is part of the Indian Women’s Team preparation for the AFC Olympic Qualifiers Round 2 (in April) and also the SAFF Women’s Championship scheduled in March.
Since January, the girls have played 7 International matches which includes their exposure tours to Hong Kong and Indonesia, and the Hero Gold Cup in Bhubaneswar. All India Football Federation General Secretary Mr. Kushal Das said that the aim is to “provide a fool proof preparation” for the Women’s Senior Team ahead of the Olympic Qualifiers Round 2.
“We are committed to provide the best of exposure to the Senior Women’s Team. The experience of playing against stronger Teams will serve them in good stead prior to the SAFF Championship, and obviously the Olympic Qualifiers,” he said. “I need to thank the SAI and the MYAS for their support,” Mr. Das added.
National Team Director Abhishek Yadav, also a former National Team captain mentioned that “playing more matches will make the girls more confident.”The girls have already played in 7 International matches since January. At the Turkish Women’s Gold Cup, we are guaranteed of another 4 matches. The tournament will further help to assess the areas we need to stress upon in the Olympic qualifiers, and also in the SAFF Championship,” he maintained.
The squad will leave the Indian shores on February 20 and play their first match against Uzbekistan on February 27.
India’s fixtures for the Turkish Women’s Cup 2019 is as follows:
February 27: India vs Uzbekistan.

March 3: Romania vs India.
March 5: Play-off matches including FINAL.
15 COACHES CLEAR AFC A LICENSE, 9 CLEAR AFC B CERTIFICATE COURSE

: The results of the AFC A and B coaching license courses, held in Maharashtra and Odisha, respectively, have been announced, and a total of 14 coaches have made the cut in their respective categories.
Module 1 of the AFC A License Course was conducted between June 12 to 26, 2018, while Module 2 of the same was conducted four months later, between October 8 to 20, 2018. A total of 15 coaches have cleared the AFC A License course.
Meanwhile the AFC B Certificate Course was also divided into two parts – Module 1 was held between 20 August to 3 September, 2018, whereas Module 2 was conducted between November 21 to 26, 2018. As many as nine coaches have cleared this course.
Apart from those that have cleared their respective licenses, one candidate from the AFC B Certificate Course was Pro-Passed. Three candidates from AFC A License and four from AFC B Certificate were declared Fame.

FIFA FOOTBALL AWARDS AT MILAN ON 23RD SEPTEMBER

The Best FIFA Football Award, a star-studded night celebrating football’s greatest will be hosted in Milan, Italy for the first time on 23 September 2019. The world-famous Teatro alla Scala will be the venue where the best of the best in world football will be honoured. Legends of the game from across the globe will gather later this year in the football-mad northern Italian city for the fourth edition of the prestigious event.
The hometown of Inter and AC Milan follows in the footsteps of London, where last year’s event took place. On a glittering night last September, Croatia’s Luka Modrić picked up The Best Men’s Player prize and Brazil’s Marta was crowned The Best Women’s Player. Two French tacticians were also honoured: Didier Deschamps, who guided Les Bleus to 2018 FIFA World Cup glory, was named The Best Men’s Coach and Olympique Lyonnais’ Reynald Pedros was awarded the trophy for The Best FIFA Women’s Coach.
Given that it is a FIFA Women’s World Cup year, the awards will take on added significance in 2019, especially in the women’s football categories.

IFA IS ALL SET TO LAUNCH ITS NEW STATE PROFESSIONAL LEAGUE

: The football loving people of Bengal now will get a taste of top class Professional football as well since IFA - the parent body of Football in Bengal has decided to launch its long awaited Franchise based professional Football league – Professional Soccer League (PSL) across the state. IFA plans to initially appoint Franchisees for 10 prominent Cities of Bengal which includes: Barasat, Kalyani, Howrah, Basirhat, Kharagpur, Tamluk, Durgapur, Asansol, Maldah, Siliguri, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling and Balurghat.
In an official statement, Mr.U K Ganguli, Hony. Secretary, IFA said that “the proposed new League will change the landscape of Football in the state and within next few years a host of talented youth Football stars will emerge from different parts of Bengal beside creating an unprecedented excitement among the Football loving people of the State.” He also added that, “the Franchisees will get an unique opportunity to run a professional Football Club at their chosen city and actively contribute towards the all-round development of Football in the state. The Franchise model has been prepared in such a way that each of the Franchisees are expected to recover their investments from the first year itself.”
The official statement of IFA also said that: “IFA has already received strong interests for almost all the Franchise Locations and has entrusted Celebrity Management Group (CMG) - the exclusive partner of PSL, to finalize the prospective Franchisees for all 10 locations within 10th February 2019 as the PSL is scheduled to be played during April - June 2019.”
PSL will be an unique and biggest Soccer Venture ever undertaken in any state in India. Through its unique conceptualization, innovative packaging and top class content, PSL is going to rationalize Bengal Football by way of providing a top class platform for talented youths of Bengal and helping them to grow as Football Superstars. The following are the brief details of the proposed PSL:
THE MISSION & VISION
• To raise the level of Bengal football and promote the diffusion of the game through the medium of Professional Football.
• Create a New Football Audience, Culture & Market.
• Identify and nurture young Football talents of Bengal and help them grow as Superstars.
• Creating Sports clubs which spearheads all Sporting Activities in town and draws youths towards Sports.
• Watching, Doing and Participating: Connecting people of all ages through Football.
For the league, initially 10 franchisees will be chosen for 10 years. Each Franchise will play 9 home and 9 away matches. The Franchisees will receive majority of their home match revenues and enjoy 100% of their Team Sponsorship revenues. The Franchisees will also receive the share of Central revenue each year. The league duration will be about 10 weeks in each season. PSL will have a mix of national, international and local players. As a long term plan, the Franchisees will become sports clubs which spearheads all sporting activities in its respective towns and will draw youths towards the sport.
The USP of PSL is that, each team can sign a maximum of 4 Overseas players out of which a maximum of 3 can feature in the playing XI. Each Franchise must also sign a minimum of 8 Local players and out of this a minimum of 3 players must be included in the Playing XI in each match.Each team can sign a maximum of 30 Players as per the following composition:
• Max 4 Overseas players.
• Min 8 Local Players from its catchment area
• Max 18 Players from anywhere in India,
Each of the team will be headed by a quality Coach with proven track records.
