19.12.2018: AIFF PRESS RELEASE : The new year will have a new look for Indian Football. The Blue Tigers will be wearing new kits, manufactured by the Indian Sportswear brand, Six5Six, starting with their campaign in the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 in January 2019. The launch of the Indian National Football Teams new kit happened at a glittering function in the Capital earlier today with seven players Sunil Chhetri, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Sandesh Jhingan, Jeje Lalpekhlua, Rowllin Borges, Shubhasish Bose and Pritam Kotal walking the ramp.

The kit sponsors, Six5Six have signed a 5-year deal with Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL), the commercial partners of All India Football Federation (AIFF), and will be outfitting the Indian National Teams across all age groups and genders, as per the agreement.The new jersey pays a homage to the Indian Football Fans, who have affectionately been calling the Team Blue Tigers. The new kit has stylized tiger stripes design element emblazoned on the sleeves reverberating the Blue Tigers predatory instincts which has seen them rise from 173 to 97 in the FIFA rankings in the last 3 years. The contract with the present kit sponsors Nike expired in 2018.

AIFF President Mr. Praful Patel in his statement said: I welcome Six5Six on board as the official kit sponsors of the Blue Tigers. The new kits look awesome and I cannot wait to watch the Blue Tigers in their new skin for our biggest continental event AFC Asian Cup 2019, and the International Friendly leading to the event. We look forward to a fruitful and long term relationship with Six5Six.

Its indeed a momentous occasion as the team heads on to participate in biggest continental tournament of Asia -- AFC Asian Cup 2019. The whole process of design was inspired by the spirit of the team and its rise in world football.

Six5Six have partnered with Kerala Blasters and FC Pune City in the ongoing Hero Indian Super League.

The replica kits will be available for the Indian Football Fans starting from December 20, and are priced keeping in mind the average Indian consumer. Six5Six will make other merchandise available in the near future. Iconic National Team striker Sunil Chhetri, highest Indian goal scorer in International Football highlighted the comfort element of the new kit. The Indian team will be seen donning its new colours for the first time in their friendly match against Oman, which will be played in Abu Dhabi on December 27, 2018. India kick-off their campaign in the AFC Asian Cup against Thailand on January 6, 2019 with matches against hosts UAE and Bahrain slotted for January 10, and 14 respectively.

19.12.2018: AIFF PRESS RELEASE : Ahead of the Indian National Teams participation in the AFC Asian Cup 2019 UAE, All India Football Federation President Mr. Praful Patel termed Indias fourth participation in the AFC Asian Cup as a precursor to Indias goal to achieve a berth in the FIFA World Cup by 2026. The Asian dream needs to be achieved by 2026 as there will be 8 teams from Asia in the FIFA World Cup, Mr. Patel said at a press conference after the snazzy kit launch of the Blue Tigers in the Capital on Wednesday (December 19, 2018).

You just always cannot live a dream and we have to make the Asian dream a reality. And with the form the national team is in, and if Sunil Chhetri and everybody can pull their feet together, we can make it a reality, he added.The Indian National Team had earlier participated in the AFC Asian Cup in 1964, 1984 and 2011 editions of the AFC Asian Cup. We should always go for the maximum and we should try to win the tournament, let alone get out of the group stages, Mr. Patel stated. We are mentally and physically prepared. We wish the team all the very best and they have the full support of the AIFF.The whole nation should support the national team and should fully get behind them. It is imperative that the nation roots for them and as the tournament is in UAE, I hope we will get a lot of support there.

Indias top goal scorer in International Football Sunil Chhetri who has been instrumental for India thus far in his career lauded praise on his teammates.The reasons that we have qualified for the AFC Asian Cup 2019 is because players like Sandesh Jhingan, Gurpreet Singh Sandh, Anirudh Thapa, Jeje and Udanta Singh and all others. It is because of these players that I go on the pitch without any pressure. They do all the hard work while I just tap the ball in, he mentioned to the applause of all.India has been draw in Group A of the AFC Asian Cup 2019 along with hosts UAE, Thailand and Bahrain. The Blue Tigers play their first match against Thailand on January 06, followed by hosts UAE on January 10, and Bahrain on January 14, 2019.

The Asian Cup is a massive tournament for India and everyone involved in the sport, said Head Coach Stephen Constantine sitting beside. We have three games from January 6-14 and I am focusing on them. We will take one game at a time and we have scouted Thailand intensively to the point that we have watched them 3-4 times for analysis, he informed. We look forward to make India proud, Constantine added.Meanwhile, Chhetri stated that India will be looking to get no less than 3 points against Thailand.

I was involved in the mock draw that happened for the Asian Cup and I was wondering what team we could draw. I knew whichever team that we drew, it would be difficult for us. But now, we are ready to face anyone. We are well prepared and looking forward to the challenge, Chhetri pronounced.Comparing Indias current preparation to the one in 2011, Chhetri added: In 2011, we were together for 6 months. But this time of the year, all the boys that have been selected are playing constantly in the Hero Indian Super League and the Hero I-League. Now we just have to come together as a single unit and give it our best shot when we get to UAE.

BREAKING NEWS: 13.12.18: Enrique Alejandro Esqueda will be unavailable in the DERBY against Mohun Bagan on 16th December as well as in some of the I League matches as he is sustaining an injury in Rib No. 9A on the left side of his chest. Quess East Bengal officially stated that Enrique is proceeding to Mexico under medical advice for necessary rehab and recovery. He is expected to rejoin QEBFC senior team by January 2019.

10.12.18: Quess East Bengal today officially announced the signing of Spanish Attacking footballer Antonio Rodriguez Dovale for the football season 2018-19. Antonio Dovale replaces the Syrian midfielder Mahmoud Al Amna who has been released by Quess East Bengal FC on mutually agreed terms following a prolonged injury.


Antonio Rodriguez Dovale, popularly known as Toni Dovale, will be on loan to Quess East Bengal FC from his current club Nea Salaminas Famagusta FC, which is amongst the top clubs in the Cyprus First Tier League. Toni also has the experience of playing in ISL having represented Bengaluru FC in the last season. He comes with a vast professional experience having played in reputed La Liga clubs like Rayo Vallecano, CD Leganes, CD Lugo, Celta de Vigo, Kansas, SD Huesca, Celta U19 and Barca U18.

Toni Dovale in a known face in Indian football, played for Bengaluru FC in the AFC Cup in the year 2017-18. According to the sources East Bengal are in a target to sign Tony Dovale before the Derby which is schudule on 16th of December.

AIFF PRESS RELEASE : All India Football Federation League Committee met at the AIFF Headquarters in New Delhi today (December 7, 2018). Mr. Subrata Datta, Senior Vice President chaired the meeting while Mr. Souter Vaz, Mr. B.K. Roka and Mr. Chirag Tanna, attended the meeting. Mr. Kushal Das, General Secretary, AIFF and Mr. Sunando Dhar, CEO, I-League were also present in the meeting.

The committee reviewed submissions made by the various HERO 2nd Division League applicants under the club licensing process. After several deliberations, the committee came to the decision to confirm the participation of only the following clubs for Hero 2nd Division League 2018-19:

Ozone Football Club - Karnataka
South United FC - Karnataka
Fateh Hyderabad AFC - Telangana
Rainbow FC - West Bengal
Mohammedan Sporting - West Bengal
Chhinga Veng FC - Mizoram
Lonestar Kashmir - Jammu & Kashmir
Hindustan Football Club - Delhi
ARA FC - Gujarat

The committee also approved the participation of the following reserve teams of Indian Super League in Hero 2nd Division League 2018-19:- ATK RESERVE
Jamshedpur FC RESERVE
Bengaluru FC RESERVE
FC Goa RESERVE
Kerala Blasters RESERVE
Chennaiyin FC RESERVE

As per the relevant regulations of the competition, reserve teams can only participate in the preliminary round of the tournament. The Hero 2nd Division League is scheduled to start from the first week of January 2018 and go on till mid-April.

Tiddim Road Athletic Union FC has been granted time to complete club licensing process in the next 3 days, commencing tomorrow. The committee granted the extra time considering the recent issues with the Manipur League, which the club had no control upon and also acknowledged the fact that the club had participated in last season’s Hero 2nd Division League and qualified for the Final Round.

It was also unanimously decided by the committee, that teams from Hero I-League and Hero Indian Super League and Hero 2nd Division League will have to undergo the AIFF Academy Accreditation process to be eligible to participate in the Hero Youth Leagues from the season 2019-20 onwards.

The Committee also unanimously decided on the new names for all the age group LEAGUE tournaments of AIFF. Under this change, “U-13 Youth League” from now on will be known as “Hero Sub Junior League”, the “U-15 Youth League” from now on will be known as “Hero Junior League” and “U-18 Youth League” from now on will be known as “Hero Elite League”. The Committee also decided to hold the Hero Super Cup between last week of March till mid of April 2019

07.12.2018: After four months of thrilling football, filled with plenty of action and surprising results, the Goa Football Association Vedanta Women’s League season two concluded amidst a glittering ceremony with Panjim Footballers being crowned champions for the second consecutive time at Sesa Football Academy’sSirsaim campus. Panjim Footballers topped the table with 25 points followed by runners-up Goan Football Club who grabbed 24 points while Churchill Borther Sports Club finished third with 22 points. Panjim Footballers have also now qualified for the India Women’s League.

Speaking during the prize distribution ceremony, AnnanyaAgarwal, President Vedanta Football said, “Our heartiest congratulations to Panjim Footballers, the deserving champions of Vedanta Women’s League 2018. We would like to thank the Goa Football Association for their wonderful support and allowing us the opportunity to partner them for the Vedanta Women’s League, which is in line with Vedanta’s vision of supporting football as well as empowering women,” “We are really excited to see the enthusiasm, passion and talent of the women footballers, who have put up a great show during the entire duration of the league and hope that they go on to bring laurels for Goa as well as India in the days to come,” he added.

Meanwhile, Panjim Footballers KarishmaShirvoikar bagged the golden boot award for the second consecutive time netting 12 of the team’s 17 goals. Churchill Brothers Sport Club Michel Castanha was rewarded for her all round performance with the Golden ball while Goan FC’s Josline D’Souza won the Golden Glove award. ScindiaSaundatikar won named the Most Promising player of the league. Speaking during the prize distribution ceremony, GFA President Churchill Alemao said, “The league was a great success and I would like to congratulate Panijm Footballers for winning the title for the second consecutive season. They were brilliant throughout the season. Congratulations to Goan FC and Churchill Brothers for finishing second and third respectively,”
