CFL Premier League 2010 today at floodlighted Barasat Stadium. The only goal
of Southern Samity scored by Francis Xavier in the starting of the match.
Todays match was very much crucial to Southern Samity coach IM Vijayan, as they lost last match against Mohammedan sporting . The win will thus give a fresh breath of life to his coaching stint with Southern Samity as he was under pressure for his team's poor performance who got only 3 points from last 4 matches.
Chirag conceded the goal because of a wrong assumption of their foreign defender Chika Wali. before starting of the match it was raining for few minutes and the field was slippery. From a counter attack of Southern Samity from right side in 6th minutes of the match their right out Pradip Nag crossed a ball after beating Narugopal in right flank and the ball went to upcoming unmarked Francis. Francis right footed volley went to goal after deflecting Gourang Biswas's leg. But Somnath was not wrong in his line. This was the 3rd goal of Franis in CFL who came from SAI camp to Southern Samity. Edmilson Pardal, the ex- East Bengal and Chirag's Brazilian Striker was the Captain of Southern Samity played not up to the mark like his past performance. On the other hand another Brazilian striker of Chirag, Joshimar, the top scorer of last CFL played a well today after coming back in first squad of Chirag . In 80th minutes Chirag had a brilliant chance to equalise through an Elija Junior freekick but todays Man of the match, Southern's Ex Mumbai FC keeper Amit Singha Roy thwarted the effort with a brilliant save. 3 Goals

Goal ’10 – Techno park football tournament hosted by UST Global, has been taken for a surprise!! All the assumptions and predictions for the big guns to hit the floor for the Finals have been reversed..
In the last round of the Quarter Final League, Tata Elxsi rose up from the ashes to claim their supremacy and became the group toppers of QF Group B, as they defeated M-Squared by 1-0 and confirmed their entry into the semi Finals. UST Global B with the addition of Gins Punnoose, player of tournament GOAL’09, seemed to have found their rhythm and defeated the star filled Nest Team for 2 – 0; confirming its place in the semi finals as the second team from Group B. Even though both the teams had confirmed its place into the semifinals before the match, the game between UST Global A and Infosys A, saw the best of the battles ever witnessed in the history of Goal! Goutham from Infy had defied the UST A teams defense with an outstanding free kick, about 33 metres from the goal post at the last moments, to lead his team to victory. This is the first time ever that UST Global A team conceded a goal, after Goal ’07! The semi Finals was crucial in every way. Tata Elxsi repeated it’s success shocking the defending champion UST Global A in the penalty shoot out that followed after a very tough match, confirming their place into the finals of Goal’10. Both teams failed to score in the regular time and extra time. UST Global A, failed to utilize a lot of opportunities which eventually showed them the way out of the Goal’10 title race. For the 2nd round in the semi Finals, the teams had to sweat out every drop and every move was planned well. Both the teams UST Global B and Infosys A stood on an attack mode. Infy had scored initially but Gins of UST Global B scored the equalizer in less than 10 minutes. Even though there were a couple of chances, both the teams missed the mark. In the closing stages of the extra time, UST B risked their most experienced Goal keeper Jeeth Sasidharan who was just half fit planning for the shootout, who then, challenged the Infy team and lit up the way for UST Global B into the Goal’10 finals. Really excited and looking forward to the Loser Finals and Winners Finals, will Paul’s predictions come true? Wait and watch on September 11, at LNCPE Stadium, Trivandrum!
