In an away encounter today Mohun Bagan registered a goalless draw against Jct. A win in this match could take Bagan in a very competitive position but the Mariners settled with a draw today. Though Mohun Bagan was definitely the better team of the match but series of goal misses took them away from the very much needed 3 points.
With the kick-off Bagan players took the control of the game and one by one effective attacks were built by them and soon the JCT defence looked like panic stricken. During this span the visitors wasted numbers of opportunities to move ahead in the match. Especially in the 16th minute of the match Marcos remained unlucky to open the scoreline as his shot went out of the goal with an inch. Mohun Bagan kept their dominance in the first half but failed to score even a single goal. While in the second half the home team tried to fight back in the match but the Maroon and Green brigade continued their supremacy in the game. During this span of time Karanjit Singh the JCT keeper saved the fall of his team with two brilliant efforts. In the 59th minute Chidi was brought down into the penalty box and the referee offered an unquestionable penalty to Mohun Bagan. But surprisingly Bareto wasted this golden opportunity as his spot kick went outside the goal. In the final day 0f 2009 in a semi-final match of the Federation Cup against East Bengal Bareto also missed a penalty kick and Bagan paid heavily in the match as the Red and Gold won the match with 2-0 scoreline. Again today Bareto Made va similar mistake and as the result the visitors failed to score even a single goal in the match and finally the match ended as a goalless draw to confirm single point to each team.

Mahindra United now reached to the top position of the I-League table. Today in Yuba Bharati Krirangan, Salt Lake Mahindra United hold East Bengal with 1-1 scoreline and thus registered 29 points for the team in the I-league. Though Mahindra now have equal point with Dempo S.C. but on the basis of the goal difference Mahindra currently hold the top position in the League table.
Today with the kick off both the teams tried to creat pressure on each other. Though Mahindra built the early attacks but it was East Bengal who played better football in the first half. Numbers of opportunities were wasted by the home teams in the first half to open the scoreline. Especially in the 14th minute of the match Sanju Pradhan failed to convert a golden opportunity into goal when he failed to beat Mahindra keeper Subhashis Roy Chowdhury in one to one position. The visitors also created quite a few opportunity but could not make any changes to the scoreline. In the second half both the teams showed urgency for scoring and finally in the 65th minute of the match from a brilliant 40 yards shot Mehtab opened the scoreline for the home side. But the joy of the home crowd did not last long as in the 74th minute from a decent cross of Sushil Singh, Md. Rafi scored the equalizer for the visitors. In rest of the time the match remained almost uneventful as the final scoreline denote a 1-1 draw. But as usual today also Bhaichung Bhutia the star of the Red and Gold brigade was in off colour which was quite a bit threatening to his team in the I-League.
