FIFA Rejects the Idea of Introducing 5 Referees | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
9.12.2009 ::Finally after the executive committee meeting FIFA decided not to introduce two additional referees in the World Cup 2010. Because of the hand ball event of Thierry Henry during the World Cup qualifier play off between France and Ireland raised the matter of intruding additional referees along with video technology in the game especially during the upcoming World Cup to avoid further complication.
In fact personalities like Gerard Houllier the former Liverpool manager and current technical director of the French Football Association also supported the idea of using additional referees but in the executive committee meeting the members voted against this system to be introduced in the coming World Cup. FIFA President Sepp Blatter has explained that the new system cannot be used in the World Cup unless it has been tried globally. According to him there is potential that the referees can feel unfamiliar with the new system which can create more confusions. So the FIFA decided to go for the current system of running the game in the coming World Cup. According to the report of Times FIFA President Blatter and UEFA President Platini have been opposed to this new idea while the FIFA Vice-President Franz Beckenbauer argued that the use of such technology may dilute the emotions of millions of football fans attached with the game.

With the kick off East Bengal established their early dominance in the match and as early as in the 13th minute youngster Budhiram Tudu opened the scoreline by scoring a fine goal to give East Bengal an early lead. After this goal East Bengal continued their dominance but the forwards missed couple of easy chances to increase the lead further. Whereas Port Trust also managed to organize certain counters and in the 37th minute Harmanjyot Singh Khabra made a silly handball within the penalty box when he tried to clear a harmless cross quite a bit casually. The referee made no hesitation to give a penalty to Port and Ezehnna Henry made no mistake to score the equalizer from the spot kick. After conceding the goal East Bengal moved more in attack in search of another goal but surprisingly in the 45th minute from another counter attack Port find their second goal when due to a very casual keeping of Avijit Henry again scored for Port by a fine header which give a 2-1 lead to the team of Biswajit Bhattacharya in the first half. East Bengal started the second half more vigorously as they were then down by 1-2 goals in the match. But with more encouraging and organizing game plan East Bengal created panic in the Port defence and as soon as in the 58th minute Abel Hammond scored the equalizer from a free-kick situation through his fantastic world class banana kick. In 63rd minute Rider made a crucial substitution which completely changed the character of the match. 5.12.2009 ::Debashis Majumder :Today at the Bangabandhu National Stadium of Dhaka in Bangladesh India registered a narrow 1-0 victory against Afghanistan in their first match in this edition of the SAFF Cup. But the Indian team did not produce expected performance today. Though the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has send to the SAFF Championship basically the U-23 Young Indian brigade under the coaching of Sukhbinder Singh but all the youngsters has been selected from the different I-League teams. So considering that it will be not incorrect to say that the Indian team today delivered a very low standard performance. But despite that India is lucky to register a victory to get the vital 3 points from the match.
In the first half of the match Indian team delivered a very disappointing performance and failed to make any positive move to open scoring opportunity. But on the other hand Afghanistan showed much disciplined performance as in the 30th minute the Afghans came very close to score. Except that in the first half Afghanistan also got couple of other close chances but the lack of scoring ability of the Afghan players failed to open the scoreline. In the second half Afghanistan came out with more positive intensions and in 58th minute an Afghan attempt to Indian goal was critically denied by the Indian defence. Whereas in the 60th minute Afghanistan got a golden chance of scoring but on that occasion Indian goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharya made a brilliant save to deny the Afghan attempt. It was after 75 minutes of the match the Indian team took the match seriously and therefore it seemed that finally they understood about the value of 3 points. In 78th minute Indian skipper Sushil Singh got a golden opportunity of scoring but his silly header could not make any difference while in the 82nd minute Manish Mathani and in 84th minute again Sushil Singh missed out to close opportunities. Finally in the 86th minute substitute Je Je Lalpekhula scored a brilliant goal to make the decider of the match. In the closing minutes Afghanistan again got a close opportunity but again their efforts was denied by the Indian keeper Arindam who played a fantastic game today. Finally the match ends with 1-0 scoreline in favour of India. But the performances of the Indian team have to be improved in the next games only then India can be able to make their ways to the semis. IND: Arindam, Denzil, D.Ravanan, Rowilson, Lalthalma, Abranches, Baldeep Jr., Jagpreet, Jeevan Singh, Balwant,Sushil Singh.

02.12.2009 :MANCHESTER United striker Dimitar Berbatov has fled his native Bulgaria after mafia threats to kidnap his partner and baby daughter.
He evacuated his family on a private charter plane from Sofia provided by United boss Sir Alex Ferguson. It was claimed last night that local mafia dons had contacted the star's mother Margarita. They warned her Berbatov's long-term partner Elena Shtilianova and tot Dea - born on October 15 - were in danger unless the player paid £500,000. Last night, insiders claimed Berbatov, 28, refused to tell the police - after underworld sources told him officials from Bulgaria's internal affairs ministry were in on the plot. It is understood the star negotiated adeal with the clan bosses who agreed to leave his family alone. Berbatov has a horror of gang crime. He was allegedly kidnapped by a mob boss as a rising young star in his homeland. He was only saved when his dad negotiated a settlement with a feared mafia chief. A family friend said: "Dimi is still very worried for his family and has promised his neighbours money if they notice any suspicious people around his house." Berbatov joined United from Tottenham last year for a fee of £23.4million Kidnapping is big business in Bulgaria where organised gangs routinely target wealthy people and their close relatives to demand large ransoms. 01.12.2009 :: Debashis Majumder:Today at the Vidyasagar Krirangan, Barasat in a vital Sahara Premier Division Calcutta Football League encounter Camelia George Telegraph successfully holds Chirag United with a goalless draw. After three consecutive wins in this edition of the CFL today Subrata Bhattacharya’s team finished with a draw against Camelia George Telegraph.
As the game starts Chirag organised early attacks towards George goal. As early as in the 15th minute of the match a debatable goal of Chirag was cancelled by the referee which proved vital at the end of the day. Despite that Chirag also got couple of close chances but in both occasions George keeper Swaroop Das made vital saves to the goal. Gradually George also improved their mid-field and the boys of Raghu Nandi started to play positional football against their mighty opponent and in this way in the 30th minute of the match George got a very close chance to score but in that occasion Aviola failed to find the net. Towards the end of the first half Chirag’s U-19 player Soumik Chakraborty missed another close chance to put his team in the lead. In the second half Chirag played a much better game and created panic in the George defence by organizing repeated attacks. But the George defence remained solid and the Man of the Match and skipper Debkumar Sasmal provided a leading performance in the defence. Chirag created a number of chances in the second half but the absence of Brazilian striker Joshimar became vital in the match and the boys of Subrata Bhattacharya failed to convert even a single of all the chances into goal. Therefore the match ended with 0-0 scoreline which confirms a single point to each of the teams.
