5th Sept : Goal '10 - Techno park football tournament hosted by UST Global, has
been taken for a surprise!! All the assumptions and predictions for the big guns
to hit the floor for the Finals have been reversed..
In the last round of the Quarter Final League, Tata Elxsi rose up from the ashes to claim their supremacy and became the group toppers of QF Group B, as they defeated M-Squared by 1-0 and confirmed their entry into the semi Finals. UST Global B with the addition of Gins Punnoose, player of tournament GOAL' 09, seemed to have found their rhythm and defeated the star filled Nest Team for 2 – 0; confirming its place in the semi finals as the second team from Group B. Even though both the teams had confirmed its place into the semifinals before the match, the game between UST Global A and Infosys A, saw the best of the battles ever witnessed in the history of Goal! Goutham from Infy had defied the UST A teams defense with an outstanding free kick, about 33 metres from the goal post at the last moments, to lead his team to victory. This is the first time ever that UST Global A team conceded a goal, after Goal '07. The semi Finals was crucial in every way. Tata Elxsi repeated it's success shocking the defending champion UST Global A in the penalty shoot out that followed after a very tough match, confirming their place into the finals of Goal'10. Both teams failed to score in the regular time and extra time. UST Global A, failed to utilize a lot of opportunities which eventually showed them the way out of the Goal’10 title race. For the 2nd round in the semi Finals, the teams had to sweat out every drop and every move was planned well. Both the teams UST Global B and Infosys A stood on an attack mode. Infy had scored initially but Gins of UST Global B scored the equalizer in less than 10 minutes. Even though there were a couple of chances, both the teams missed the mark. In the closing stages of the extra time, UST B risked their most experienced Goal keeper Jeeth Sasidharan who was just half fit planning for the shootout, who then, challenged the Infy team and lit up the way for UST Global B into the Goal'10 finals. Really excited and looking forward to the Loser Finals and Winners Finals, will Paul's predictions come true? Wait and watch on September 11, at LNCPE Stadium, Trivandrum!

IBS had to take a step back initially as Lino Computers hit the target by bringing the score line of 3 goals to 1. Infosys A team and Nest gripped a wonderful victory over RMESI and PITS Solutions; both the games saw a scoreline of 4-0. The other victors for the Goal’10 initial qualifying rounds were RR Donelley, IIITMK and Tata Elxsi. The game between Infosys B team and M-Squared, ended in a draw. Luck did not favor Accentia, Gemini India and RevenueMed this season, as they had to give in, even though they fought a tough fight. Goal' 10 - a Color Gold Initiative, is now considered the official football Technopark tournament, is being conducted for the third successive year. There is more exciting news to come up as Goal' 10 Qualifying rounds has been scheduled for August 14 and 15.
