Trivandrum center at Technopark witnessed a confluence of companies during the unveiling of the trophy for Goal ' 09 - the UST sponsored inter-company football league. The Trophy was unveiled by Mr. Ramachandran, Dy GM, Technopark, and the event was presided over by the UST leaders Niketh Sundar, Murali Gopalan and Joseph Fernandez. Goal ' 09 is all set to unleash football fever around Technopark beginning June 27th, 2009. The Captains of the competing teams were also welcomed on to the stage and each captain was given the chance to hold the trophy. Challenging every other team, each captain spoke about their vision they had for the sporting action that lay ahead; which overwhelmed the audience and lit up the true Team spirit of Goal '09! Niketh and Murali then spoke about the outlook of UST Global for Goal ' 09. Niketh said that Goal ' 09 was well aligned to our Wellness Program and even suggested a women's football league! Murali added that participating in sport activities encouraged a healthy lifestyle which was an important factor in every professional's life in current times and also lauded Goal '09 as a great platform for employee engagement activities. Joseph gave the Vote of thanks, mentioning Color Gold and its team members as the brain behind the initiative. Goal'09, a football tournament involving Technopark-based IT companies, will be held at the LNCPE ground, Karivattom from June 27 to July 18. Sixteen teams will take part in the tournament. The league matches will be held on June 27, 28 and July 4.The quarterfinals will be played on July 11 and the semifinals on July 12. The final will be played on July 18.

UST Global - Winners of Goal ' 09
Techno park Football Tournament

19.07.2009 : Mr. Mervin Alexander, CEO of Technopark and former University Football player, kicked off the Intra Technopark Football Tournament Goal ' 09 Finale on the LNCPE grounds, Kariyavattom on July 18, 2009. The stage was set for the big match of the tournament and cheers of joy greeted the team as all the hard work paid off for UST Global who finished the tournament unbeaten and were rightly crowned CHAMPIONS. UST Global emerged as Winners, retaining the trophy for the second time, in a row. The third place play-off was between Infosys and Nest in which Infosys emerged triumphant by one goal. The top scorer and the Golden Boot Award of the Tournament was awarded to Najeev Nambiar from UST Global, who shot 14 goals from 6 matches and the Player of the Tournament was awarded to Gins Punnoose, who kept a consistent form throughout the Tournament. The semi finals of the tournament witnessed the toughest matches of the Football Fiesta. Apart from both the Host Teams, Infosys and Nest too qualified for the semi finals, who did remarkably well throughout the Tournament. The last 3 weeks saw an exhilarating football action between the Technopark companies in Goal'09. All the teams that participated in this Football tournament displayed excellent football skills and promoted the real sportsman spirit in the IT sector. Goal'09 goes beyond football to represents the winning spirit of the Technopark Community', says Alexander Varghese, Country Head, UST Global,for us at UST Global, it is a privilege to play host to Goal'09. It is an opportunity to bring the best together within our Technopark Community.
