With just a year left for the FIFA WORLD CUP 2010,Republic of South Africa is all set to stage FIFA CONFEDERATIONS CUP,2009 from 14th-28th June which is a dress rehersal leading to the FIFA WORLD CUP next year.

Eight Continental Champions will take on each other for the battle for supremacy. There is no doubt that whoever wins this competition will get a motivational boost ahead of their Worldcup preparation.

Host nation South Africa have to play cautiously as they will be missing the likes of Benni Mccarthy. The Blackburn Striker is not even included in the squad which is marred by player unrest.Everton’s Steve Pienaar will be a key player for Coach Tele Santana and the Bafana Bafana outfit.

Asian Champions Iraq is the Dark Horse of this year’s competition. This team has surprised everybody when they won the 2007 AFC ASIAN CUP. They will be heavily relying on their Captain fantastic Younis Mahmoud and coach Bora Mulitinovic’s strategy.

New zeland ,the Champions from Oceania will be missing Captain Ryan Nelson. Herbert Nelson’s outfit have to heavily rely on the goal-scoring techniques of Shane Smeltz.

Former World Champions Brazil would be looking to regain their supremacy as Dunga and his boys are high on form and would be banking on the likes on Kaka and Robinho as great things are expected from them.

World Champions Italy has regrouped well under their Golden man Marcello Lippi. Gianluigi Buffon is their guardian angel as lot depends on him. They will be heavily missing Gattusso.Rossi and Iaquanita will be the Azurri’s mens with the midas touch.Andrea Pirlo is the playmaker for his side but one must not forget that the Italians are blesses with a player called Luca toni who can make a difference.

African Cup of Nation Champions Egypt are also looking pretty good ahead of this competition. The striking force of Mohd.Zidan and Aboutrika would be a lethal weapon for them.BPL players like Mido and Zaki will be interesting to watch.

USA ,the North American Champions is perhaps an underdog of this tournament. As they are struggling to hold on to a proper form.Ther messiah will be Landon Donovan and if he get things right then everything will go right for them.Everton’s Goalkeeper Tim Howard will also have to play a key role if the team wants to do well in this competition.

European Champions Spain are the raging bull of this tournament. They have the best team in the business and their FIFA ranking says it all.Their striking duo of Torres and Villa is deadly for any opposition. The midfeild needs special mention as Xavi is in his numero uno form and not to forget the likes of Andreas Iniesta who not only send Barca to the UCL finals but also played a huge part for winning the cup and Marcos Senna also cant be missed out.Sergio Ramos,Carles Puyol will also play a huge role at the back and how can one forget Saint Casillas.

So come 14th May, Republic of South Africa will be hit by football fever and so don’t miss it guys its gonna be one hell of an competition.
