Mohunbagan Chief Coach Carlos Roberto da Silva(Left)
One might seem surprised that Roberto Carlos is in Mohun Bagan AC but we are talking about Roberto Carlos Pereira da Silva; the Chief Coach of the Club for the 2007-08 season. He was the Coach of East Bengal last season but was shown the door after East Bengal failed to perform well. Addressing the Media at a Press Conference held today at the Club Tent in the Maidan, he reiterated that with time the performance of the Club will improve and would be better from last year. He aimed to start with the Calcutta Football League. He said that he had come here to win and asked the cooperation of the Club Officials, Coaching Staff, players and fans in his endeavour. He was happy with the players available for practice now since most of the better ones like Bhaichung and NS Manju are now at the National Camp at Gurgaon. The Chief Coach wanted an Indian Physio. He takes the field tomorrow at the Maidan having arrived today early in the morning. However from 16th July, a residential training camp will be held at the Mohun Bagan SAIL Academy campus in Durgapur for pre season conditioning.
Only time will tell how successful his efforts would be and whether he would be able to extract revenge against East Bengal. Football fans are waiting eagerly for the duel between the two archrivals with Subrata and Carlos switching camps this year.
