Since his early days Baichung's football ambitions have been promoted by his family mainly his uncle Karma Bhutia.At the age of 9 he joind SAI (Tashi Nangyal Academy)and got a Scholarship from their. 2.Baichung Bhutia first came to the limelight at the 1992 Subroto Cup in New Delhi where he was the BEST PLAYER awardee. 3.In 1993 Baichung was signed for East Bengal F.C.one of the strongest teams in India.His name proposed to Club by former Indian Goalkeeper and Ex-skipper of East Bengal Club Mr. Bhaskar Ganguly 4.After Subroto Cup's Excellent performance he played in the Asian U-16 Cup Qualifiers for Indian National Team. 5. In 1995 Baichung joined JCT Mills of Punjab .This year with his excellent performance Jct won the first-ever Indian National Football League title, and Baichung was also the league's top scorer by scoring 14 goals. 6.
