39th SIKKIM GOVERNORS GOLD UP 2019

31.10.2019 : The Sikkim Gold Cup, known as the Sikkim Governor's Gold Cup is an Indian football tournament held in Sikkim organized by Sikkim Football Association (SFA). The tournament is the only tournament to have been held uninterruptedly for the last 31 years. Past champions include New Road Team of Nepal in 2007, Three Star Club of Nepal in 2008. and ONGC FC in 2010. Mohammedan S.C. became the champions for 2016 beating Jhapa XI FC 1-0 in the final.

The Executive members of the SFA announced that the season would begin on the 1st of November and stay till the 12th at Palzor Stadium in Gangtok.The tournament will have a total of 12 teams, including three new teams from Sikkim. The following are the teams selected for the tournament ----- Md. Sporting Club (Kolkata), Royal FC, Jamshedpur FC (R), Punjab Police XI, Army (Red), BSS Sporting Club, Eastern Railways, Kidderpore Sporting Club, Gokulam FC, Sikkim Himalayan SC, Sikkim Police FC, and Sikkim State Sports Academy. Kolkata side Kidderpore SC is participating in the tournament after a long gap of almost 37 years.

The winners will receive a cash prize of two lakhs and the runners up will receive one lakh. The inaugural match will be played on November 1st under floodlights at 5 pm and the rest will be played at 2 pm on the scheduled dates and as per the fixture declared by the SFA.
