The second half Neroca FC who doubled their lead in the 65th minute. Sushil Kumar Singh curled in a cross from the right to find David Lalbiakzara in the box. The ex-Shivajians midfielder chested the ball down to K. Malemnganba Meitei who smashed home a half-volley from the top edge of the box leaving custodian Sayak Barai helpless in the DSK Shivajians goal (0-2).

Three minutes into injury time, Neroca FC sealed the game with another goal when substitute Anandkumar Singh finished off a cross from the right flank by Subash Singh to make the scoreline 0-3.

DSK Shivajians FC enter historic semi-finals, down Army Green to top group.
DSK Shivajians FC achieved the mission they set out with by registering a 2-1 win over Army Green and book a historic semi-final berth in the 128th Durand Cup at the Harbaksh Stadium, on Monday.

Two penalty kick conversions by Spanish winger and skipper Juan Quero (6th and 9th minutes) proved decisive, but not before clinical second half defending that led to DSK Shivajians emerging victorious. Army Green could only pull one back via Herojit Singh (36th minute).

The result helped first-timers DSK Shivajians finish their five-match Group A engagements with 10 points in their kitty and guaranteed them top spot in the group. The win was DSK Shivajians third in the tournament, which includes a draw and loss.

Needing only a win to progress to the last-four, DSK Shivajians got off to a perfect start as they took the lead in the 6th minute. After a defender had handled Hitova Ayemi’s ball in the box, skipper Juan Quero stepped up and slotted home the resultant penalty for his third goal of the competition.

Three minutes later, Quero doubled the lead with one more penalty kick conversion, his second of the game and third in the tournament, after referee penalised Army Green for another handball in the box. With the strike, he joined Rohit Kumar as the top goalscorer with four goals to his name.

After that, DSK Shivajians controlled the majority of the proceedings and created many chances. Sairuat Kima was in the thick of the action going close with a couple of headers which went just wide.

DSK Shivajians will play the runners-up of Group B in the semi-final on Friday, 9th September 2016.

DSK Shivajians FC once again fell prey to a last-minute goal and went down 1-2 to Minerva FC in the 128th Durand Cup at the Ambedkar Stadium, New Delhi on Sunday. The loss was DSK Shivajians’ first in the competition, while Minerva FC registered their first win.

Having played out a goalless first-half, DSK Shivajians were first to score when Spanish winger and skipper Juan Quero converted a penalty-kick in the 60th minute. Minerva FC equalised through Lago Bei (79th minute), before Manandeep Singh (90th minute) handed DSK Shivajians a shocker.

The result put a spoke in DSK Shivajians chances of making the semi-finals, which, instead hinges on the last match they play against Army Green on Monday.

The match against the defence squad is a must-win situation for DSK Shivajians to progress into the knock-out stage, but above all, it also opened up a chance for Indian Navy as well.

Manager Dave Rogers made five changes to the squad. Sayak Barai, Mohd. Sajid Dhot, Maan Singh and Kim Song Yong were brought in along with Amey Ranawade, who earned his maiden start. Those rested included, Rakshit Dagar, Shane McFaul, Surchandra Singh, Sairuat Kima, Zohmingliana Ralte.

In a half dominated by physical game play, it was Minerva’s Manandeep Singh and DSK Shivajians’ Kim Song Yong who had close chances early on. While the woodwork denied Manandeep, Kim went just wide with his header.

As the game progressed, Minerva had their best chance of the first half in the 23rd minute when striker Marcus Lopez had an attempt from close. However, the Guam attacker found a brilliant point-blank save by Sayak Barai keep the score goalless.

In the final minute of the half, DSK Shivajians had an excellent opportunity to take the lead when Quero curled in a perfect free kick into the box to find Kim. However, the North Korean striker, who managed to connect a header, once again went inches wide as the first half ended goalless.

The second half was a fast paced affair with both sides creating numerous chances in the opening quarter. However, it was DSK Shivajians who controlled much of the proceedings with some good moves.

Having piled on constant pressure over the rival goal, DSK Shivajians finally broke the deadlock in the 60th minute. Juan Quero, on his second attempt, converted from the penalty spot after striker Kim Song Yong was brought down by Minerva’s defender Gagandeep Singh inside the box. In fact, Quero had scored from the first attempt too, but referee A. Rowan asked for a re-take.

With DSK Shivajians pushing up, Minerva levelled scores at the other end against the run of play in the 79th minute. Nigerian striker Lago Dogbo Bei was the fastest to react to a cross inside the box and scored with a powerful header past ‘keeper Sayak Barai.

DSK Shivajians then conceded late on for the second consecutive game in an ensuing melee that led to Sayak leaving his line and coming forth. The ball, still in danger, deflected onto unmarked striker Manandeep Singh, who slotted into an empty net to dash DSK Shivajians hopes of earning a point.

02.09.2016 : DSK PRESS RELEASE : DSK Shivajians FC played out a six-goal thriller with Indian Navy and shared a point in the 128th Durand Cup at the Ambedkar Stadium, New Delhi on Friday. The result brightened debutants DSK Shivajians chances of making the semifinals.

A last gasp injury-time goal by the spirited Navy team cancelled the bulldozing comeback made by debutants DSK Shivajians who found themselves in arrears by an early goal. DSK Shivajians had Rohit Kumar (36th minute), Arif Shaikh (45th) and Juan Quero (46th) account for their tally while Wayne Vaz (3rd), Hardik Kanojiya (60th) and Md. Irshad (90+3') found the net for Indian Navy.

The result of this Group-A clash took DSK Shivajians points tally to 7 from three matches and thus in line for a berth in the last-4. Indian Navy has 6 points (4 matches), while Army Green has 4 points (2 matches).

DSK Shivajians suffered an early setback when striker Wayne Vaz gave Indian Navy the lead in the third minute trough Wayne Rohit Kumar found the equalizer for DSK Shivajians in the 36th minute who scored from K. Lalthathanga’s corner kick. DSK made 2-1 when Striker Arif Shaikh created space after a quick one-two with Quero on the edge of the box before drilling a low shot past the Indian Navy custodian.

In second half DSK Skipper Juan Quero got in the act as he began the move down the middle sending striker Arif clear in the box to slot home with ease and make it 3-1 in favour of DSK Shivajians.

Indian Navy made 3-2 ehen their attacker Hardik Kanojiya controlled a long ball on the edge of the box and took a shot to beat DSK keeper. ]Indian Navy equalized 3-3 from a free kick. Navy's Irshad capitalized to head home the equalizer and end the game 3-3. DSK Shivajians will now play Minerva FC on 4th September at the Ambedkar Stadium.

Rohit brace helps DSK Shivajians overcome Gangtok Himalayan FC

31.08.2016: DSK PRESS RELEASE: DSK Shivajians FC continued their maiden appearance in the 128th Durand Cup after registering a facile 2-1 win over Gangtok Himalayan SC at the Ambedkar Stadium, New Delhi on Wednesday.

A first-half double by LFC-DSK Academy graduate Rohit Kumar (5th and 44th minute) enabled DSK Shivajians to log full points. Gangtok Himalayan pulled one back via a penalty kick conversion by Jon Lepcha (78th minute). The result took DSK Shivajians points tally to six and earned the pole position in Group A.

Paite’s delivery in the box from the corner was fumbled by goalkeeper Sukhwinder Singh, which led to a lurking Rohit pounce onto the opportunity and slot home (1-0). Two minutes later Paite had his try from close punched away by the ‘keeper.

Gangtok Himalayan with the one odd attack into the DSK Shivajians' half hardly tested the defence. A rebound off the wall following a free-kick was poked gently by Surjit Singh into DSK keeper Sayak.

DSK Shivajians closed out the half with their second strike. Paite, down the flank, delivered a low cross, which Arif stepped over leaving Rohit clear which he later finished with a low drive past the keeper (2-0).

End to end action prevailed after that with neither team managing to get a clear attempt on target. As the game moved into the last 15 minutes, Gangtok Himalayan earned a penalty kick after defender Lalnunsiama brought down an attacker. Lepcha stepped up and sent Sayak the wrong way to pull one back for the Sikkim team(2-1).

DSK Shivajians will now play Indian Navy on 2nd September at the Ambedkar Stadium in Delhi.
